History:

LeaderTreks is an evangelical ministry seeking to create wholly committed disciples of Jesus Christ who will become leaders for tomorrow's church. LeaderTreks was founded in 1994 by Doug Franklin. The original name, Adventures in Student Missions, was changed to LeaderTreks to more accurately reflect the mission. This year, LeaderTreks will lead many leadership development trips for church youth groups, Christian schools and individuals, it will produce leadership curriculum, conduct seminars for youth pastors and run leadership training retreats for students. Mission:

Developing leaders to fulfill the Great Commission

Purpose:

In the church we are one generation away from being out of leaders. It's our intent to help develop and train students to become leaders and to give them opportunities and instruction in how to effectively use their God-given gifts. We believe that these types of experiences and challenges can strengthen students' faith today and also nurture a heart for long-term Christian service.

About LeaderTreks Interns:

We want you to know that when you join us for a summer, you're not joining an organization, but a vision. Our vision is to develop students into leaders. It's not just our hook; it's what we are passionate about.

Our program is based on the facilitator role our staff and interns play. As an intern, you will learn to ask tough questions, confront mediocre behavior and be prepared to do the hard work of creating a student leader.

As a part of the LeaderTreks intern team, you will receive intense training. Each intern will get a specialized intern training, equipping you with skills and knowledge for the summer. This training is meant to prepare you for the summer as well as train you for the future.

Ministry programs:

LeaderTreks is a leadership development ministry. Our ministry programs include:

  • Leadership development trips - missionsand wilderness
  • Youth pastor workshops and conferences
  • Student leadership curriculum
  • Student leadership training

Fundraising:

All of our staff members are paid through faith based support. This means each intern must raise funds to cover their internship fee. The funds raised covers LeaderTreks' costs, travel, room and board, and meals. An intern may fundraise over and above the internship fee to receive a summer salary.
