Overview

History:

LeaderTreks is an evangelical ministry seeking to create wholly committed disciples of Jesus Christ who will become leaders for tomorrow's church. LeaderTreks was founded in 1994 by Doug Franklin. The original name, Adventures in Student Missions, was changed to LeaderTreks to more accurately reflect the mission. This year, LeaderTreks will lead hundreds of leadership development trips for church youth groups, Christian schools and individuals, it will produce leadership curriculum, conduct seminars for youth pastors and run leadership training retreats for students. Mission:

Developing leaders to fulfill the Great Commission

Purpose:

In the church we are one generation away from being out of leaders. It's our intent to help develop and train students to become leaders and to give them opportunities and instruction in how to effectively use their God-given gifts. We believe that these types of experiences and challenges can strengthen students' faith today and also nurture a heart for long-term Christian service.

About LeaderTreks staff:

We want you to know that when you join us you're not joining an organization, but a vision. Our vision is to develop students into leaders, it's not just our hook, it's what we are passionate about.

The LeaderTreks staff are full-time professionals. We share a bond based on our desire to develop students. We spend many hours together and we are deeply committed to each other. We currently have nineteen (19) ministry staff. (10/06)

Our leadership program is based on the facilitator role our staff plays. Our staff must ask tough questions, must be willing to confront mediocre behavior and be prepared to do the hard work of creating a student leader.

As part of the LeaderTreks staff you will receive intense training. As a staff we have off site training sessions and each spring we do an extended staff training weekend. We also have a lot of fun together.

Ministry programs :

LeaderTreks is a leadership development ministry. Our ministry programs include:

Leadership development trips - missions and wilderness
Youth pastor workshops and conferences
Student leadership curriculum
Student leadership training

Fundraising:

Each staff member is required to raise their own support. This support goes to pay salary and all expenses tied to fundraising. LeaderTreks pays for all your travel and ministry related expenses. We would love to show you the fundraising system we use and how easy it is.
